This year SOOB screen presents the last
chance for a nostalgic trip through the
Village Twin before its transformation into
a new venue for art, alternate and historical
cinema in 2005. Not just a screening
venue, the Village Twin foyer will have a
constant stream of music, installation and
performance. Come have a beer with your
popcorn, get politicised, eroticised and
whimsical on our psychedelic carpet.
Our first Saturday is dedicated to debating
the future of intellectual and creative
copyright. Copyright/Copywrong includes
a panel discussion followed by three. We
also take hostage of Big Brother stars,
dirty insiders and intellectuals to ?nd out
if Reality TV can save the world in POP!
Goes Politics. On Wednesday the Village
Twin becomes the Side Show Valley complete
with peep show booths, nude lifevideoing
and tongue painting, followed by
a ?lm marathon dedicated to the subversive,
offensive, disturbing and arousing.
We discuss and exhibit contemporary
political documentary in its many forms,
including recent international mainstream
releases, spontaneous local interventions,
national anti-Howard collectives,
and the Brisbane premiere of the Labrats?
debut feature, Too Deadly. The program
also presents hands-on workshops with
Brisbane?s best across the spectrum of
screen art, including cinematography,
design, editing and vj-ing. We close with
a bang in the form of the much anticipated
launch of Kill Your Television: The TV Series.
Screen thanks Dare Power for his support and use of the Village Twin.
